A few of us (well, two) aspiring science fiction/fantasy writers were looking for a serious critique and write-sharing group to join. We thought, hey, lots of people in Berkeley must love sci-fi...we just have to find them and get them in a cafe. The group is open to anyone who is writing in the genre or who enjoys it enough to read other people's writing and provide serious and supportive critique. What kind of writing? Screenplays, novels, short stories, YA...you name it. We share our writing …

So lets read one book per month then we can meet up talk Sci Fi and make friends that read the same books as us.

This is an attempt to see how many people in San Francisco are as big fantasy novel lovers as I am and if they want to get together once or twice a month to do a book club. Some of my favorite authors are Tolkien, Eddings, Goodkind, Jordan, Butcher, Ann Marston, and my personal fantasy writer god is Guy Gavriel Kay. So, join up if you're interested. I'd love to schedule a first book club meeting sometime in mid February. Ideas for places to meet? A restaurant, coffee shop?

I own several really great board games that I rarely get to play. Especially what would be classified as 2 player "War Games". I've been unable to find a group of wargamers in the North Bay, so I figured I would start my own group and see if there was any interest. There are other board game groups in the area for playing "Designer" and "Classic" games, so I'd like this group to focus on games classified as Historic or Fictional war games. Meetups at least once or twice a month, feel free to …

… Beth has written four fiction manuscripts (mostly science fiction and fantasy), and queried over three dozen agents and editors. Beth has also written several nonfiction book proposals for clients that have generated interest in the publishing industry. Beth has published, contributed to, and/or edited five books: Author, The Writer's Adventure Guide: 12 Stages to …

Meet other apocalypse sci fi lovers over drinks at various cozy bars in the city! Each month we will read a book with an apocalyptic setting picked by either the organizer or voted upon by members. P.S. Some people have asked about what the 1.00 fee is/how is it used.... Most meetup events charge a low fee because meetup costs to start a group.
